Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s latest release Katamarayudu has opened to outstanding response from Telugu fans. The film is said to have earned more than Rs 55 crore on its opening day.
Katamarayudu starring Pawan Kalyan, Shruti Haasan and directed by Dolly has opened at North American Box Office in more than 250+ centers. This is one of the biggest releases for a Telugu film. Katamarayudu mania is all over the USA, UK and other overseas countries.
When Sardar Gabbar Singh became damp squib at the box office last year, expectations for Katamrayudu rose to mammoth proportions. With the film in theatres, it’s safe to say that Pawan Kalyan is finally back in style, as Katamarayudu has opened to overwhelming response from powerstar fans across the world.
According to a report in The Times of India, the Pawan Kalyan-starrer has raked in a whopping Rs 55 crore on its opening day, surpassing the numbers of his brother and megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khaidi No 150, which reportedly earned Rs 47 crore on its first day. It may be noted that Katamarayudu has already grossed Rs 100-crore through its satellite and distribution rights.
Released across 1,500 screens, Katamarayudu has made a business of Rs 4.4 crore on its opening day in America. Going by the unprecedented craze, Pawan Kalyan is very likely to shatter the existing box-office records with Katamarayudu.
Directed by Dolly, the film is a remake of Tamil blockbuster Veeram, which starred Ajith Kumar in the lead. Katamarayudu also features Shruti Haasan, Siva Balaji, Ajay, Kamal Kamaraju and Chaitanya Krishna in important roles.
Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan and Shruti Haasan are teaming up for the second time after the commercial success of Gabbar Singh.
