Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (1891-1956 C.E.) popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian lawyer, politician and academic. As independent India’s first law minister, he was the principal architect of the Constitution of India.

He was born on April 14, 1891 into a poor Mahar family. Bhimrao Ambedkar belonged to a lower caste community. He converted into Buddhism and inspired many other lower caste people to turn into Buddhism. He brought the reservation law in India for the lower caste communities. He died in his sleep on December 6, 1956 at his home in Delhi.
